Train to become a Coach

Terry Griffiths casts a critical coaching eye over seven times World Champion, Stephen Hendry
Terry Griffiths has played snooker for more than 40 years. In this time he enjoyed success in the professional game as World and UK champion. Terry worked hard on his technique during his playing career and was fortunate enough to share and grow his knowledge working with respected coaches within the game.

Since retiring from the game in 1997 Terry has given his time to running his business, snooker administration, television work and coaching. In his time as a coach he has worked with some of the top players in the game, including Mark Williams, Stephen Maguire and Stephen Hendry (pictured above).

Terry has adopted a method of coaching for the snooker technique that he feels offers the most consistent results in a game of very small margins of error. The method he uses is on one hand an eclectic mix of established ideas, and on the other hand a number of new ideas that Terry has used with success in his career as a player and coach.

Terry is keen to pass on his experience and is offering a training course for those people who may be interested in using the methods that have served him so well.

In this course you will be taken through every aspect of the technique. You will also be given advice related to mental skills, practice structure, objective setting and game play.

Much of the training is given by Terry's son Wayne, though Terry, subject to availability, will almost certainly give one day or a half day session on the course. Wayne is obviously well versed in Terry's technique and is himself a senior trainer for the European Snooker Association and a Grade 'A' coach for the World Snooker Association.

The intensive course takes 3 or 4 days (depending on coachng experience) and finishes with a half day examination. You will also be expected to complete some work during the evening (one to one training will take up 4 - 5 hours per day). At the end of the course you will be given a comprehensive file covering everything you learned during the course. This file can be extended to include details of what you will need to set up a coaching foundation of your own (if required). An extra day will be added to the course if this option is undertaken.

Providing you pass the examination you will also be a given a certificate from Terry Griffiths' School of Coaching.

At the end of the course you will not be sent away with no support. As long as you are accredited to Terry Griffiths' School of Coaching we will, should you require it, provide a mentoring service via email or telephone.

This course is usually given at the Terry Griffiths Matchroom in south Wales. However, if you have more than 1 person interested in taking this course, it is possible, to keep costs to a minimum, for Wayne Griffiths to travel to your chosen venue.
