Junior Open Competitions at the Matchroom

A JUNIOR snooker championship is to be held in Carmarthenshire for the first time. A prestigious Carmarthenshire Open will be staged at the Matchroom.

The tournament will be split into under 14 and under 18 categories and be held over two days at the club. A total cash prize fund of £600, trophies and coveted coaching lessons with Terry Griffiths will be up for grabs.

The club has teamed up with Carmarthenshire County Council for the event in March. Young people from across the county and further afield will be invited to take part. Entry forms will be sent to all schools in the county and be available on-line and at the Matchroom (click here to download).

The competition will be the biggest event of its kind for young people in Carmarthenshire, and if successful will be turned into an annual fixture.

Organiser Wayne Griffiths said: “Plans are underway for the Carmarthenshire Open.

“We are delighted to be working alongside the council for this event for young people.

“It will be open to everyone and we are hoping for a good response from across the county.

“I have no doubt that the standard will be high and it will be a real opportunity for young players to take part in a competitive environment.

The draw for the under 18 competition can be downloaded by clicking here.

Please note that the finals day originally arranged for 23rd March will now be re-arranged. Please watch this space or contact us at the Matchroom for further details.
